What is batana oil?
This oil is extracted from the fruit of Elaeis oleifera, the American oil palm, a species native to Central America. It is sometimes called ojon oil. Our batana comes from La Moskitia, on the Caribbean coast of Honduras, where Miskito women have been preparing it by hand for generations.
Are there any precautions to take?
For external use only. Do not ingest and keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes; rinse thoroughly with water in case of contact. If you have a sensitive scalp or a known allergy, perform a patch test in the crook of your elbow 24 hours before first use.
How to store batana oil?
At room temperature, away from light and heat. It contains no preservatives, so close the jar tightly after each use. It may harden in winter and soften in summer; this is normal and does not affect its quality.
